Arrest History in Mercer County

The county does not publish a dedicated sheriff report database, full fee sheet, certification fee, or set turnaround. Call first to confirm the correct records contact, payment method, identification needs, and availability. Ask for the report by incident number, date, location, and record type. Do not use county tax tools as if they searched criminal records.
If the ordinary contact path fails, submit a focused request under the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act. Identify the sheriff as the public body, request existing records over a clear date range, prefer electronic copies when practical, and ask for a cost estimate. Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and a booking charge may end without a conviction or even a filed count.
Dismissed Mercer Arrests Remain Distinct
A dismissal does not automatically erase every Mercer County arrest trace. W. Va. Code ยง61-11-25 addresses eligible acquittals and dismissed charges and defines covered records broadly enough to include arrest records, fingerprints, photographs, index references, and electronic data.
